WYL: Tell us a bit about yourself
Ryan: I'm Ryan, a 16 year old junior at Leo Hayes Highschool. A single child, with a single mom enjoying life to the fullest. I have a passion for hockey, music, and cars. Also on weekends I work part-time at Pizza Hut!
WYL: What is your connection to mental illness?
Ryan: I have had many encounters with mental illness through my life. Growing up I learned first hand how mental illness can severely effect someone and the people around them. Even though I didn't know at the time, I watched schizophrenia take over a dear family member's life. Thankfully they have recovered and have gotten the help they need.
WYL: What does your "Self Care Sunday" look like?
Ryan: Most Sundays this season I'm at the hockey rink, and there's no where else I'd rather be. The clear and rejuvenating feeling after a hockey game is the perfect way to end a weekend for me.
WYL: What are you most proud of yourself for?
Ryan: My proudest moment was on the day I bought my car with all the money I had saved over a year from working at Pizza Hut. After what seemed like forever, I finally threw enough money into my savings to buy my beloved 2001 civic si.
WYL: If you had 30 seconds to tell the world one message what would it be?
Ryan: Don't let anyone tell you what you want to do. Find your passion and make it your job. As we all know life is short and to be as happy as possible wouldn't it be best to minimize the time you spend being unsatisfied with the work your doing? This is why I could never work a desk job.
