10 Activities to Help With Your Winter Blues

1. Spa Day!

Light a few candles, put on some soothing music, make a put on a facemask and have a nice warm bubble bath. Especially in the winter our skin gets really dry and flakey so what better way to relax and pamper yourself at the same time?!

2. Make a summer playlist

We all get into that winter funk and wish it was the summer. So when you feel that way make a summer playlist to listen to when you just can’t deal with the cold weather anymore.

3. Change your lighting

A lot of therapists believe that light therapy lamps help boost your mood. They are specifically made for people who live with Seasonal Affective Disorder. You can purchase them at Costco, Bed Bath and Beyond and a number of places online! If you don’t want to spend your money, opening up all of your blinds can help too!

4. Paint a picture

Nothing help me relax more than painting a picture! I find it helps you clear your mind from the world for a while, and plus you can turn your stress and anxiety into beautiful art.

5. Cook or Bake

You have to admit eating your favourite food can instantly boost your mood, so why not make yourself you favourite meal or dessert to make you feel better.

6. Get physical

They always say that exercise is very important for your mental health. It helps take your mind off of things first of all and it also releases endorphins, which are the little guys inside your brain that make you happy.

7. Curl up in a nice blanket, drink hot cocoa and read a book.

You know when its one of those really cold days and you don’t want to do anything but curl up in a blanket and not leave the house? Well this is a perfect opportunity to grab your favourite book that you’ve been trying to make time to read, make some hot cocoa and relax. 

8. Stick to a schedule

They say the best thing that helps your mental health is sticking to a schedule (well try to). Have a great sleeping schedule and eating right really does amazing things for your body and for your mental health.

9. Write in a journal

Journaling can honestly help you a lot. This is something you should aim to do every day to get all your feelings out on paper. The main point to this is to express your feelings so you don’t have to keep them all bottled up, which can cause more stress in your life and we definitely do not want that!

10. Get the most out of your winter.

Yes winter can be cold and get you into that gloomy feeling but we should all just make the best out of winter by doing some winter activities- after all in a few weeks it will be gone for another year. Go skating, sliding, snowshoeing or snowboarding/skiing. You might have great time instead of staying inside and avoiding the cold.
