Happy First Day of Spring!!
Even though it probably looks like this for some Canadians…
it is still one of my favourite times of year. The mornings and the evenings are getting lighter which always makes it easier for me to get out of bed in the morning and feel happy staying out later at night.
This time of year also never fails to boost my mood. I am a very cold person- even on the beach if the sun goes behind a cloud I am instantly freezing so the prospect of warm weather after the winter is always a welcome one.
Additionally I am the kind of person who loves going for walks and picnics and being outside when the weather is nice. In my mind, it doesn’t matter what you’re doing, it is ALWAYS better/easier/more fun when it is sunny and warm out. On the first really nice day of the year I try to go outside and go for a walk, even just around the block. I find that this has a huge positive impact on my mood and it helps clear out the winter cobwebs from my brain.
I look like Snoopy in the spring
and I know that everyone has different expereinces with their mental health and wellness but for me spring is such a turning point in my mood and perception of things and I always look forward to the first day as a sign of better things to come.
