Name: Kelly Price
Fav thing about your city: The never ending activities! Chicago has a little bit of everything- great food, museums, history, architecture, night life, activities, festivals, etc.!
Tell us a fun fact about yourself!: I was a collegiate athlete- I played soccer at the University of Oklahoma! Also, I have lived in both Italy and Israel for some time over the past 3 years!
Why is ending the stigma important to you?
Because I have been on the side of feeling judged and it's terrible. Because I know that it's like to feel as though you have to silence your thoughts and emotions so that people take you seriously, don't judge you, speak negatively about you, etc. Mental illness is more common than people realize and it comes in a variety of forms. While what I suffer from (anxiety) is more mild on the scale of possibilities, it shouldn't be any less important. It's real, it effects people daily, and it should be treated with care, rather than dismissed. I want everyone to feel accepted, included, and loved- whether they suffer from mental illness or not but especially if they do.
What does your every day look like?
I work from home, so, my days are often very different although my workload is the same. I usually wake up and make some tea before taking my Yorkie, Riley, for a walk through the local park. I love being outside to start my day- I feel it gives me some time to clear my head and get some fresh air before focusing for the day. Then, I work either in the library, my home office, or the business center in my building. I like to switch it up based on my mood and where I feel most inspired! I love to meal prep, so my lunch is usually done ahead of time! In the evenings, I go to either the gym, yoga, or pilates. I also get a reflexology massage once a week! I spend the weekday evenings working on my blog, having dinner with friends, or taking long walks along Lake Michigan (in Chicago)- it's right outside my window & 43 floors down!
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Honestly, simply, stop stressing. It will all work out the way it's supposed to. You will find yourself, you will find your passions, you will find love, you will be happy, and you will make a difference. You will travel, you will become more independent, and you will learn along the way. But don't forget, it's not always easy and nobody ever told you it would be. Trust in God and your heart. I promise you will be OKAY!
Who is a Role Model to you?
I really am inspired by all of my other WYL Brand Ambassador friends. In our Facebook group I love to see the stories people share and am moved by how honest, real, and raw we all are. Although I've only known these people a month or so, it is so nice to be a part of such a loving community despite the fact that many of us have never met each other.
How do you send your Self-Care Sunday?
On Sundays I am ALWAYS outside! Sometimes I enjoy shopping, taking walks, having a nice lunch, or taking pictures. On Self-Care Sunday I like to spend some time alone. I'm quite busy through out the week so it's nice to have some time to myself. I usually do a face mask while I clean in the morning before my healthy activity which is usually a jog on the beach. I jog with my backpack so I can bring a towel and lay outside when I get to the sand (I'm so happy it's finally warm outside!) I like to lay around in the evenings and plan my content for that week on my blog and social media. My guilty pleasure is reality TV on Sunday nights! I read, meditate, and pray every night before bed, but, especially on my relaxing Sunday to prepare for the week ahead.
