Self-care is of the utmost importance for everyone, even when you are not struggling through a mental health challenge. That being said, self-care is different for everyone; some are able to just color and watch Netflix while some haven't showered in weeks and the dishes are piling up...either way self-care is important and you owe it to yourself to be healthy and happy!

Slowly coming out of a mental health slump can be the best feeling in the world, but also the worst because you slowly begin to see everything that you have fallen behind on in the past day, week, or month. The dishes are crusted over, your hair is mangled, and there are clothes all over the room...and that's okay because when you're not feeling well (mentally or otherwise) that has to be your priority before anything else. Yet, you owe it to yourself to be in a enriching environment that not only promotes your positive mental health, but also allows you to be comfortable.

The easiest form of self-care is starting self-care, whether it be getting up and opening your blinds or taking a nice how shower. Your body deserves it and so does your mind. The simple steps that someone can take for some are little steps are actually massive steps, but that is okay.

The challenge comes with understanding; not everyone is able to get the mind set of this is good for me. It can be hard some days for some to even get out of bed, while others can get out of bed clean their entire room and go for a run. Once you are able to understand that everyone is different, in regards to self-care, you will begin to realize that mental health affects all in different ways and we all cope with different forms of self-care.

So, take your time because after all, it is yours and only yours. Don't let anyone tell you how you should be spending your self-care time because they may not understand what works for you. Do you baby-boo!
